Seems only appropriate to introduce myself since I'm new to Beads-Of-Clay.  My name is MaryAnn Carroll.  My first name actually has a space in it, but in this new world of technology, the "Ann" reads as if it is my middle name.  I've been making ceramic beads for a couple of years now.  I won't ramble on about that, but if you would like to know a little bit more about me, you can check out my personal blog.

The Beautiful Results

Okay....'nuf of that stuff.  Today I thought, "hmmmm, what to write about, what to write about?"  I thought that I would talk about my love for an art that has been around ....ohhhhh.....for a LONG time..back in the BC days!  Then this thought popped in my head (like they often do- kinda like ping pong balls between two professional players) and I remembered a time, not so long ago, when I researched the history of beads.  I discovered a website that not only makes reference to kilns and clay, but also has a fascinating history of many types of beads.  I imagine that ceramic beads would have been similiar (only a little more primitive) to the woodfire method of today.  I picture them doing a traditional dance praying to the gods of fire.  I think I'm going to suggest that Bill try that so that EVERYTHING comes out great in the next firing!  This is my husband Bill's little kiln.  Plans are to sneak a few beads in....Stay tuned!!  So, there you have it...my first little bit of news.
