Cone 6 Commercial Glazes for Third Friday

Welcome to the Beads-of-Clay Third Friday Commercial Cone 6 Glaze post.
This may be the last week that I'll concentrate on the Coyote Glazes, although I might have one more post with some of the red glazes I didn't get around to testing.
This month I decided to test out some of the clear or creamy neutral tan colors.
Before Glaze Firing.
After Glaze Firing.
The Coyote Glazes that were tested from Left to Right are:
7, 11, 23, 27, 29, 31, 34, 45, 48, 74
Before Glaze Firing.
After Glaze Firing.
I thought it was important to show that even though these colors don't look like much on the porcelain clay, when you put them on the chocolate clay, they really look different.
On Chocolate Clay Pre Glaze Firing.
On Chocolate Clay Post Glaze Firing.
Not only is it a good idea to think about different clay bodies, but to remember that these are quite useful for a lot of potential other ideas to test out:
Base for Decals
Accent Color
Base coat for Watercolor effect (that will be coming up this fall)
And whatever else you can think up…

So what have you been testing out in your clay studio?
Would love to share…

  1. Marsha, I so love how methodical you are in your glazing! (i.e. the complete opposite of my approach which is NOT ideal!) Thanks so much for sharing :)
